Hidden Creek Outfitters Thorofare Adventures includes the two oldest and most remote camps in the famed Thorofare region of Wyoming. Located at the southeast corner of Yellowstone National Park, these camps are steeped in history. The Teton Wilderness camp was made famous as Gates Camp Lucky after a hunt by wealthy Charles Gates of Gates Tire & Rubber Company in 1913. The Hidden Creek Camp was started by Max Wilde and was one of the first in the outfitting business. For 45 years, until the mid sixties, Wilde ran the outfit and hosted many celebrities of the day, including the legendary
ball player Ty Cobb.
What we are offering here is a TRUE WILDERNESS ADVENTURE. You will be hunting in the most remote, game rich wilderness there is in the lower 48 states. In addition to being the home of the largest Elk herd this wilderness also holds vast numbers of Big Horn Sheep, Mule Deer, Shiras Moose, Black Bear, along with protected species such as Grizzly Bears and Wolves, a truly wild place.  Our late season hunts can co-inside with the Yellow Stone Elk Migration & the Yellow Stone Mule Deer Migration.  If Yellow Stone gets significant snow the Thorofare is one of the historical migration routes for Elk & Mule Deer to the lower Elevations.
We hunt the headwaters of the Thorofare River. The “Thorofare” is considered to be the entire drainage that drains to the Thorofare River in Wyoming elk area 60. - It is a  true Thorofare!

We provide the very finest mountain horses, great meals, comfortable tents and excellent guides. The crew at Hidden Creek Outfitters is second to none. Our guides, wranglers, cooks, and camp jacks work around the clock to make sure your hunt is a great one.
These are the hunts you have read about and seen on TV. Packing in on horseback, sleeping in wall tents, hunting in the pristine wilderness with no sign of modern civilization, being one with the country where you can see the your game as it lives, not reacting to being pushed by other hunters, four wheelers or trucks. The minute you throw your leg over the saddle you will be transformed back to the days of yesteryear.
Remember, most people do not regret the things they have done in life as much as the things they have not. Do not let this happen
to you. Join us in the wilderness!

Hidden Creek Outfitters is permitted under the Wyoming State Board of Outfitters and Professional Guides via special use permit from the United States Forest Service in the Teton Wilderness of the Bridger Teton National Forest.  Our Thorofare River Camp has the distinction of being the oldest existing campsite in the Teton Wilderness Area. The history of the camp is colorful as the mountains
that surround it.

              Getting to Cody

Please let us know arrival dates and flight numbers as soon as possible. United and Delta airlines currently fly into Cody. Any of you who are driving can call for directions or routes.  You may also check mapquest for information, it has been a great source in the past. You are allowed two checked bags and one carry on, for your flight. You need two small duffels for the trip into the wilderness, I suggest you put them in one large duffel for your flight. Some hunters ship via UPS their duffel to us a few weeks in advance. If this would work for you just let us know.
Upon arrival, a representative of Thorofare Adventures will meet you at the airport or call if you are driving, as soon as you reach town, even if it is a few days in advance. Once greeted you will be taken to the local shooting range to check your rifle once again. Then transported to a hotel in town to await pickup the next morning for your trip to the back country.
